Deee-Lite - “Groove Is In The Heart”
DANCE PARTY AT MY PLACE TONIGHT!
I’ll be playing lots of 90s dance music. A little “Rhythm of the Night”, some Technotronic, even that “I Wanna Be A Cowboy” song.
I was gonna ask for someone to bring some Zima, but they don’t make it anymore. Besides, I’d need like 30 of them just to feel a buzz (I remember when just two of those could lead to questionable decision making, like shopping for Menudo memorabilia or watching football).
Instead, I guess you can bring some E. Seems like an equal substitute.
Oh, and glow sticks. And that friend of yours who looks like Jordan Catalano. I like how he leans. He leans great.
When I first started working at Benigan’s while in high school there was a jukebox. The hosts liked to play Bobby McGee and the bartenders liked playing Suspicious Minds. The hosts had access to the power cord and would override the bartenders any chance we got. Management played peacekeeper by removing the jukebox and implementing a corporate-approved mixed tape system. (This was pre-satellite.)
Groove Is In The Heart played every 45 minutes on every one of those tapes. The dancing to and from tables and singing while bussing tables was worse than any jukebox war ever was.
I think it’s safe to say we won.
